Pastel Blue for E17

Just a peek at the theme I'm working on for Enlightenment.

This is all very early, and not a lot has been modified from the current default E17 theme. However, this should give you a decent idea of the direction I'm going with it. I'm looking for people to test and give me input on it, or even contribute!

I feel that a lot of the currently available E17 themes are sub-par and many are unoriginal. Sure the default theme is complete and shiny, but it is necessary to demonstrate that theme modders like myself can turn it into something completely new!

So drop by #ninjapirate on irc.freenode.net and ask kingrayray for a copy of the theme!

First post!

I've been a computer nerd enthusiast for many years now. When I discovered the world of Linux, and open source software, I also discovered that I love using pre-release software. I always install my distribution using the unstable branch, and don't hesitate to compile software myself if it means I am using the absolute latest version of available software. There is a certain thrill to be on the bleeding edge of software technology, and in most cases it is worth the potential instability or bugs.

So I'm starting this blog. I'm going to scour the Internet for new software to try. I'll install the latest stable version (if it exists), then continue to try the latest testing version. Ideally, the side-by-side comparison approach will help you, the reader, decide if it's worth trying the bleeding edge version!

A couple pieces of software that I am hoping to see soon for Linux are Digsby and Google Chrome. I've used both in Windows, and both are designed to be cross-platform. So as soon as software becomes available to me, I'll be testing and posting my results here.

If you know of any cool open source, or free-as-in-beer software that would be fitting for this page, feel free to drop a comment! I'd love to get some reader interaction going here too.

So here's to the future, and beyond! :)
